Oh the people of Peru, they are crazy awesome people. They are never too busy to help you with a question that you may have and they are always incredibly nice when I am struggling with my Spanish to try to talk to them. But one of the best parts of living here is my host family.
I live with my two host brothers and their mother and grandmother. They always are willing to talk to me and they are always super fun to hang around with. My host brothers are really into soccer, which they have educated me a lot about. I being from the United States know very little about soccer. I am a football player and fan by heart. So as they are teaching me about soccer I am teaching them about football. My host mother and host grandmother are constantly teaching me about cooking Peruvian food. I am a cook but I generally cook most of my food at work and only when I am at work. So the majority of the time when I cook at home it doesn't feel as natural, but watching them cook has showed me that it is a lot easier than I think.
With my host family being such nice people I am constantly meeting new people and I am constantly having new opportunities to practice my Spanish which is so nice. So I am learning the culture of how these people live. People here keep on thinking I am significantly older than I am and I keep thinking they are younger than they are. I don’t know what why we think that but it makes conversation which helps even more with my talking abilities in Spanish.
