Back in the United States feels great at first, back to my family, my own house, my pets, and my job. At first all I wanted to tell everybody about my trip and how much I missed them, but after time three thousand two hundred and seven that got old enough quick that I just started saying that I didn’t die so I have that going for me.
But truth is Peru will forever be one of the best experiences of my life. I believe the only reason I made it through with such a positive perspective was my host family. They were so good to me and the they helped me with my Spanish learning and my cultural learning of Peru. They best part of Peru was the trip to Machu Picchu; it is not often people can say they saw one of the Seven Wonders of the World. But Peru did also have its downfall, we were bored a lot. I think if we had part time jobs while we were there that would have increased our Spanish and we would be able to occupy our times a little healthier. But we did have a lot of fun and it was a great experience no matter what.
All of my time in Peru helped me improve my Spanish, which was beneficial to my career as a future teacher. But for me, learning about the culture was the cooler part. In the United States people look down upon people who wear scantly clothing, there even grandma’s who shouldn’t do. For me learning that women are expected to look good for the men no matter the age they were was really fun to learn about. All of my cultural learning either came from my family, who helped me with so many things like that, or my professors at UPC.
